Want to Lose some Unwanted Fat? Try to Eat Protein
Are you passing out from your favorite chicken hamburger at the office
cafeteria because you desire to lose some weight? Then you might be
wrong, as pork, chicken, and other foods which are protein rich could
assist you lose fat and weight.
According to a small study that is conducted by a group of Australian
researchers, people who are overweight aren't efficient in metabolizing
fat after meals than slimmer people, and the protein composition in
each meal affects the gap in weight.
Dr. Marijka Batterham, the lead researcher of the study from University
of Wollongong in New South Wales said in an interview in a newspaper
that it is hypothesized in the research that people with higher level
level of body fat do burn fat more after a meal with high protein
compared to people who have a lower body fat.
Other studies, she added, theorized that diets which incorporate lots
of protein could help people who are overweight to shed pounds easily,
due in part because of the tendency of protein to control appetite
better than carbohydrates or fat.
Dr. Batterham also said, but, their experiment didn't concentrate on
losing weight, so it could not be verified whether the improved burning
of fat that is seen in the overweight respondents of the study could
lead to a decrease of weight over time.
The average age of the subjects was 40 years, with eight of them
overweight, six of them weighed normal, and four of them are obese. On
the first day, the respondents ate a controlled breakfast and lunch
comprised of carbohydrates and little protein.
Even though there's no scientific confirmation that consuming protein would lead to weight loss, a lot of experts recommended a diet rich in protein to assist in lossing weight.
Some of the recommended foods that are high in protein include low fat
dairy, meat and eggs, and also vegetarian protein sources like soy
milk, beans, nuts and other kinds of legumes.
